Paul,

The 4096 increment requirement for Spanning Tree Protocol’s root bridge priority is inherent to the STP standard itself. Even on non-Cisco switches, the STP priorities must be set in increments of 4096. A little bit confusing, but that’s the way it works.

thanks alot for that infor. Now, mind explaining in details why when doing per vlan spanning tree , we must use an increment of 4096.

Cisco Catalyst 2950 Configuration Guide says: dot1x port-control default setting is force-authorized, not auto, as you wrote.

“You control the port authorization state by using the dot1x port-control interface configuration command and these keywords:

•force-authorized—disables 802.1X and causes the port to transition to the authorized state without any authentication exchange required. The port transmits and receives normal traffic without 802.1X-based authentication of the client. This is the default setting.”

Actually, If I am not wrong in the EIGRP Over the MPLS, All the CE nodes will learn the routes from each other, but every CE will have only one EIGRP with the PE.
